垃圾清理挑战，我们在行动

#trashtag challenge: We are on the move

二零一九年四月二十七日，南京市，扬州市，镇江市三市十八所高校的环保爱好者，在上午8点至12点，志愿开展了“母亲河 母亲节”垃圾清理活动。

On 2019.4.17, from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m., enthusiasts for protecting our environment from Nanjing, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang participated in the river bank cleaning event known as “Mother River, Mother’s Ray”.

参与本次活动的学校共计十八所，并为各自所负责的区域做出了重要贡献。东南大学，南京信息工程大学，南京交通职业技术学院，中国药科大学，南京航空航天大学，南京审计大学金审学院，东南大学成贤学院，南京林业大学，南京工业大学，南京晓庄学院，南京理工大学紫金学院，南京航空航天大学金城学院，中国传媒大学南广学院，南京大学金陵学院，南京大学，扬州大学，南京财经大学红山学院，南京财经大学，捡拾垃圾近三百大袋，捡拾河段涵盖南京市十余条河道。活动结束后，参与活动高校的青年志愿者协会与环保社团在微博上发布带有垃圾清理挑战标签的微博，向活动中的其他高校发起挑战，比拼捡拾的垃圾数量。南京大学组织方将在下一阶段继续扩展活动的影响力，希望更多的人可以加入我们的环保队伍，一起改善我们身边的环境。

The event was organized by the Clean Earth Helpers a group of Nanjing University students and included 18 schools: Southeast University, Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, Nanjing Communications Institute of Technology, China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing Audit University Jinshen College, Southeast University Chengxian College, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing Tech University, NanJing XiaoZhuang University, Nanjing University of Science and Technology ZiJin College, Nanhang Jincheng College, Communication University of China, Nanguang College, Nanjing University Jinling College, Nanjing University, Yangzhou University, Hongshan college of Nanjing university of finance and economics, and Nanjing University Of Finance & Economics. Collectively, we picked up 300 bags of garbage and many other large pieces of rubbish from over 10 river banks in Nanjing.  After the event, clubs and associations have shared our experiences and now challenge other schools to join this movement at #trashtag challenge on Micro-blog. The organizers from Nanjing University will continue to organize other cleanup events, and hope more groups will respond to our challenge and join us to improve our environment. 

“母亲河 母亲节”由南京大学的学生，在英语系外教Antonio·Sansotta的指导下发起，活动举办到今年已经是第四年，参与学校由一所，三所，十所扩大到今年的十八所，今年的活动关注到人民网对垃圾清理挑战的呼吁，将垃圾清理挑战融合到河岸垃圾清理的挑战之中。除了对河岸清洁作出贡献外，活动方希望通过这种手段唤起更多公民的环保意识。

The “Mother River, Mother’s Day” event was initiated 4 years ago by a group of students from Nanjing University, mentored by Professor AntonioSansotta. During these four years, we started with one school, and then grew to three, to ten, and now eighteen. This year, our event is also a response to People’s Daily challenge and incorporated the #trashtag challenge. Apart from cleaning the river banks, we hope our action will raise the awareness of our citizens of what they can do to help keep our environment clean.

通过这次活动，来自不同学校，不同地区的志愿者同学都有所收获。在参与活动的过程中，志愿者发现，看似熟悉整洁的地方，其实都有着大量人们因为粗心和方便扔下的大量垃圾。比如埋在绿化底下的烟头，落叶底下的塑料盒子等等。这些隐藏的垃圾对环境的损害巨大，也只有当我们以环境为己任，认真观察关怀，才可以发现。也在我们的观察和关怀中，我们发现了我们环境的美好，比如在草丛中无名的小花，以及在社区中来来往往的可爱的人们。这一点，在参与活动的十八所高校中引起了共鸣，也是我们参与环保事业的重要意义。各个学校的各个队伍，用自己的镜头去记录自己的所做所感，并分享和感染更多人。

Through this event, volunteers from all the different schools and areas have realized that we can do a lot for our environment. If we look closer, we will find a large amount of garbage left behind by people, for example, cigarette ends under bushes and plastic packages under leaves. This hidden garbage impairs our environment greatly, and can we only find them when we take the responsibility, and look harder with keen eyes. As we clean, we not only find the trash, but we also find beauty, the nameless flowers and the warm people coming and going, which give our efforts meaning. This has resonated in all the schools and participants, and we have recorded our experiences to share and inspire more people.

以此，我们向全国各个地区发起挑战。我们希望有更多的组织，能以更大的规模，弘扬环保事业。本次活动组织了18所高校，每一所清理了10到20袋不等的垃圾。我们真诚地希望其他环保组织能接受挑战，打败我们三百袋垃圾的总量。如果我们能一起努力，共同拥抱“母亲河 母亲节”的精神与热情，我们的环境将会越来越好。更多详情请访问www.greenearthhelpers.com。

Now, we challenge all areas of our country. We hope that more organizations can launch their programs to protect and care about our environment. Our event organized 18 schools that have collected a huge amount of trash. We hope that other groups will take up the challenge and beat our combined total of 300 large trash bags.
